A Classical Labyrinth designed and built by the artist Maria Strutz in Albion Millennium Green, a secluded area of mixed woodland and parkland which is open to the public 24/7. The labyrinth was built during a small arts festival that was held on the Green - LEAF (Little Ecological Arts Festival) organised by Bruno Roubicek. The labyrinth was made from natural elements found on the Green, such as small stones and sticks, laid onto a relatively barren portion of ground, thus without the introduction of external materials onto the site. With ongoing care over the years, and as moss and grass have strengthened the original structure, it has become established on the site and is a beautiful feature of it.

Directions/notes:
We have built a representation of the original Shepherd's Race, or Robin Hood's Maze. Perhaps the most curious and least understood ancient monument in Nottinghamshire, the original turf maze was near the Wells Road - but the debate over its origin and use continues. The Shepherd's Race was described as being 34-35 yards across, covering an area of 324 square yards, with a single path 535 yards long. The purpose of the maze seems to have been to run, dance or walk the path to the centre and back out - possibly without a pause. This was known as treading the maze and was popular at village fairs and other festivals. It could also be used for walking meditation.
