Directions/notes:
Matthew Beyes, an exceptional scout from Mount Zion has accomplished a great feat by creating, designing and constructing a prayer labyrinth as his Eagle Scout project.
The Prayer Labyrinth is 48 feet in diameter and sits 20 feet off of the parking lot. The total area of the Labyrinth is 1809 square feet. The pathway is made out of a dark colored gravel while the edging stone is a tan colored brick. It took a total of 135 man hours to build the Labyrinth while a total of 22 people worked throughout the day of May 9, 2015. The Labyrinth is a great way for the congregation and community to strengthen their spiritual needs and the labyrinth provides an avenue to make that happen.
I asked Matthew to give me a brief rundown of his busy schedule to give everyone an idea about Matthew and the type of person he is. Right before Matt and talked about the project he went to Philmont, which is the largest scout owned property and is known throughout the world of scouting as the best place to go backpacking. I was the Assistant Senior Patrol leader in my troop as we started discussing the project but soon I became the Senior Patrol Leader in my troop as well as becoming the Second Vice Chief for my District in the Order of the Arrow. A few months later I was the Campmaster for my District's Spring Camporee and planned a very fun weekend for all the other scouts in my district.
